Drahim Castle

For History Lovers

Near the center there is the Castle of the Knights of St. John, dating back to the early Middle Ages. You can see, among others weapons, armor or torture devices from that era. Knight tournaments, conventions of convents and battle stagings are organized there.

The origins of the castle’s existence are related to the Order of St. they took over the Drawa land from the Templars and immediately decided to fortify it.

Its location was ideally suited to the isthmus between the Drawsko and Żerdno lakes, characterized by perfect, natural defensive qualities.

Today’s Drahim is more than just the remains of a Gothic wall. After crossing the wooden gate, you enter a medieval world dominated by colorful costumes, old weapons and the smell of flatbread. There is a museum here, torture devices and souvenir stands. You must taste the specialties of the monastic cuisine and the famous Drahim honey, as well as try the eel from the local smokehouse. Before a trip to Drahim, it is worth checking the calendar of events, because you can find here a medieval fair or a battle tournament with the participation of knights’ brotherhoods from all over the country.

12 km from the Taurus Center there is a neo-baroque manor house in Dalewo, which was built around 1920 for the councilor of state in Koszalin – Sixtus von Knebel-Doeberitz . The residence is surrounded by a landscape park with an area of 2.8 ha.
